Daily Life

Our care model is built around structured daily routines that support independence, confidence, and wellbeing. Residents begin each day with personal care support from trained staff, then participate in the life of the home — managing portfolios, attending to Centre tasks, or simply enjoying community time.
Meals are prepared in the shared kitchen by our Kitchen Manager, a resident, creating a genuine home atmosphere rather than an institutional one.

How It Works
From Application to Moving In
Our admission process is straightforward. Here's what to expect from first contact through to settling in.

Submit Application
Complete the online application form or contact Fizel De Vries directly. We'll confirm receipt within one working day.

Assessment
The residents review your application against our admission criteria. You'll be contacted for a visit and interview.

Decision
The residents vote on the application. All applicants are notified of the outcome. Waiting lists are maintained when rooms are full.
4
Move In
A probationary period applies. Once settled, the new resident takes on a portfolio and becomes a full member of the community.

Designed for Wheelchair Users
Every aspect of the HAODQC facility has been designed with wheelchair users in mind — from the layout of bedrooms and bathrooms to communal areas, ramps, and outdoor spaces.

Roll-in showers, grab rails, and adapted facilities in all bathrooms to support safe personal care.
🏠 Wide Doorways & Ramps
All doorways and passages are wheelchair-width. Ramps provide access to all areas of the property.

Each bedroom is furnished and laid out to accommodate wheelchairs, hoists, and medical equipment.

We provide residential care primarily for adults with quadriplegia, paralysis of all four limbs, and paraplegia, paralysis of the lower body. Applicants must be able to participate in community life and contribute to the running of the home in some capacity.
We provide daily assisted living care — personal care, routines, and support. We are not a medical facility or hospital. Residents access medical care through their own doctors and the broader healthcare system. We assist with transport to appointments.
Yes. Family and friends are welcome to visit during visiting hours. We also have a guest room available for family members who wish to stay overnight, subject to availability and advance booking.
Costs are discussed during the application and assessment process, as they depend on individual circumstances, funding sources, and any government subsidies applicable. Please contact us directly for more information on fees and funding options.
We currently accommodate 12 residents. When rooms are not available, eligible applicants are placed on a waiting list and contacted when a place becomes available. We encourage you to apply even if you are not in immediate need.
